Play dough

Who knew that making your own play dough was so easy? Well, I didn't. But now I do:

1 cup plain flour
½ cup salt
½ cup water
Food colouring

Mix into a big blob. Done!

If you like you can use pure natural organic things like beetroots to colour your play dough (and indeed make it with 00 flour and Maldon salt, if you really wanted to push the boat out). I used my most basic supplies from Colruyt and some toxic-looking orange powder I found in the halal butcher's round the corner.

Hand not yet stained yellow by aforementioned food colouring

Machine love

Even brand new sewing machines are not immune to fluff, it seems. Me being a bit of a technical dunce about these things, I tried every possible solution from the manual (and probably some other irrelevant ones too) before eventually curing my repeatedly-broken bobbin thread problem by getting up close and personal with a screwdiver and the machine's inner workings.

Having got all down and dirty with its nooks and crannies (I performed a rather intimate, gentle toothbrushing-style action and then I blew), I actually I love this machine even more than I did before. Which frankly is out of all proportion for a mechanised home-economics device, even if it was Very Expensive.

Dragonfly skirt

Well it's been a while since I posted - a while in which I have been not entirely unproductive. I won't be so rash as to promise a whole load of updates though, you'll have to take them as they come.

So anyway, a while back I made an extremely successful raid on the bargain bin at ETS Berger, and among other things found two lots of this jersey fabric:

At this rather tremendously low price each:

The purple is still waiting for a purpose, but the blue is this:

Little girls' skirts are so easy and lovely!

Shirt dress for L

Ah the joy of ticking the first thing off a list!  Just one evening of fiddling with bias tape, and I successfully finished transforming an old shirt of G's into a dress for L.

Less successful were attempts to get her to stand still and be phtographed in it.
